K.P. Shashidharan, is an alumnus from the London School of Economics, Member of the Indian Audit & Accounts Service, a premier higher Civil Service in the country (India), Member of the Institute of Public Auditors (IIPA) of India, Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), USA and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), USA.

He is currently working as Director General in CAG office. He also held many other important positions in the Government of India. He was a Member of the National Advisory Council on Accounting Standard of the Government of India (NACAS), Central Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Chairman Audit Committee of ICAI, besides Member of different Committees of ICAI.

He is well-known in the audit fraternity and has addressed academic, professional, industry and business forums on corporate governance, environmental sustainability, Triple Bottom Line reporting, Internal Financial Reporting Standards, Internal audit, information system audit and fraud examination. He is instrumental in introducing three phase audit in financial reporting of Public Sector Enterprises and Capacity building and pioneering in Environmental Auditing.

His International experience includes auditing of offices of the United Nations Organisations, Food and Agricultural Organisation, and representing India as a leader and delegate in various international forums on professional issues.

He is a columnist contributing regularly articles on Management, Information Technology, Finance, Accounts and Audit related issues in the leading national business news papers viz; Business Line, Business Standard, Financial Express, Times of India, Hindustan Times and Telegraph.

He is the author of "Whispering Mind, a book of poems which is acclaimed by Sahitya Akademi as "it is an evocative book; it is laced with enough contemporariness to be truly pertinent and entertaining; the imaginary landscapes and the emotional conundrums are simple dazzling.
